We complete a comprehensive evaluation of current functioning for all new students. This evaluation not only includes core academic areas such as mathematics and reading, it also includes the underlying areas of functioning that greatly impact a student’s ability to perform academically and function socially. Our evaluation includes many areas that are often overlooked in academic evaluations and are seldom incorporated into academic programs. These areas include cognitive & auditory processing, fine and gross motor skills, perceptual motor functioning, sensory integration, communication (receptive and expressive for written/oral), social skills, and independent functioning.
At the end of each year all currently enrolled students (that are able) participate in both a cognitive functioning assessment and a reading assessment. This enables parents to see the improvements made over the course of the school year. For those students that are unable to participate in such an assessment, parents receive a detailed and comprehensive progress report.
